Each year in the United States, an estimated
350,000 people die of sudden cardiac arrest. While companies often
train employees in CPR, survival rates are as low as 1.4 percent.
An Automated External Defibrillator is a device that recognizes
a heart rhythm that requires an electrical shock and can increase
survival rates to between 50 and 80 percent. AEDs are small, simple
to use, and extremely reliable. With proper training and support,
companies can use them to protect their employees, clients, and
visitors against sudden cardiac arrest.
In 1998 New York State passed legislation supporting
the use of AEDs by businesses, commercial and residential properties,
and in any place where people congregate. The innovative NYU Medical
Center AED Program has been designed to provide our clients with
safe and effective AED programs. Services include:
- Site Assessment and AED Placement
- Training
- Medical Direction/Collaborative Agreement
- Regulatory Filings
- Post-Traumatic Stress Counseling
